Pro Tip: Clean Your Diamond Ring Yourself (It’s Really Easy!)
Published Saturday, December 14, 2024
You don’t need to take your diamond ring to the jeweler to be cleaned. And forget expensive, noisy ultrasonic jewelry cleaners too.
You can have devastatingly sparkling diamonds if you follow this quick tip:
- Fill a small bowl with warm water and common household dish soap.
- Let your rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces soak for about 30 minutes.
- Once done, gently scrub with a soft-bristle toothbrush. Don’t forget the underside!
- Rinse, and lay out on a paper towel to dry.
That’s it – that’s all there is to it. Your diamonds will sparkle like never before.
A few notes:
Don’t use anything but common dish soap. We find other cleaners too abrasive. But dish soap is magic. It’s super-gentle, but it’s a superb cleaner and de-greaser. And the oil and residue that builds up on your Jewelry is no match for dish soap.
Also, don’t use a toothbrush that you’ve already used on your teeth. The leftover toothpaste residue isn’t great for your jewelry. So get yourself a new soft-bristle toothbrush and keep it for “jewelry only”.
We like cleaning every other week or so. That keeps residue from building up.
